13forge

Edmonton, Alberta

Good tools you can keep.

13forge makes software that lives on your own computer. It works without the internet, it does not watch you, and what you make with it stays yours.

Who we are

We are a small Alberta company, 2748684 Alberta Ltd., based in Edmonton. 13forge was started by Sean Morin, who spent twenty-three years in the Alberta finishing trades before he started building software.

The trade comes along with him. You check your work, you show your work, and you do not hand someone something you would not use yourself.

What we do

We build one program that does many jobs, so you are not juggling a dozen apps and a dozen accounts. Here is what you can see today:

Learning

Hands-on lessons for shapes and numbers, played like a game. See the learning tools.

Sound and music

Tools for exploring harmony, sound patterns and song structure.

A star map

A sky you can fly through, right in your browser. Open the star map.

Your own setup

Everything runs on your computer. No sign-up, no cloud account.

The Garden: little creatures around a pond on a grass field
The Garden, where every learner starts.
A harmony grid, a vibrating sound plate pattern and song sections side by side
Sound: a harmony grid, a sound plate and song sections.

Why it's different

It works offline. No internet connection is needed to use it. If the Wi-Fi drops, your work does not.

It does not watch you. No tracking, no ads, nothing sent home about what you do.

What you make is yours. Your files stay on your computer, in your hands.

We show our work. When we say something works, we keep the proof. If we have not measured it, we do not put it on this page.

Who we build for

Kids who learn by doing

For kids who have a hard time with the usual classroom way, and learn better by seeing and touching.

Parents and teachers

Something you can put on a computer without worrying about accounts, ads or where the data goes.

Musicians and tinkerers

People who like to play with sound and see how it is put together.

People who want to own their tools

Anyone tired of paying every month for software that lives on someone else's computer.

Feed the creatures: a learner drags a thread from Mama onto Nest, one spoken step at a time
Feed the creatures: one step at a time, and nothing ever breaks.

Try the star map

About the syllabics: 13forge only shows the syllabic symbols. It gives no meanings, translations or language teaching, and will not until community engagement.
